What is Silicon carbide tubesheet?

Silicon carbide tubesheet is a remarkable material that plays a crucial role in various industries. These tubesheets are fabricated through isostatic pressing and high-temperature sintering. They can be assembled with silicon carbide heat exchange tubes to form silicon carbide shell and tube heat exchangers, which are primarily utilized in high-temperature, high-pressure, and highly corrosive working conditions. The sealing method can be designed according to the design requirements, and threads can also be machined.

Typical applications include shell and tube heat exchangers in scenarios with high temperature, high pressure, and strong acid and alkali corrosion. Industries such as fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental engineering benefit from the use of silicon carbide tubesheets.

The characteristics and advantages of silicon carbide tubesheets are remarkable. The dimensional accuracy of the silicon carbide tube sheet is ±1.0mm, and the thickness accuracy is ±0.1mm. They can also be precisely machined according to customer requirements for even higher accuracy. Silicon carbide tubesheets possess comprehensive corrosion resistance and can be used in sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and various mixed acids, with a lifespan far exceeding that of graphite and metallic materials. The silicon carbide tubesheet adopts a stepped groove or threaded design and is sealed with a pressure seal using corrosion-resistant materials such as perfluoro ether O-rings. The hardness of the silicon carbide tube sheet is second only to that of diamond, enabling its use in various conditions with particle erosion, and its service life is more than five times longer than that of graphite headers. All silicon carbide tubesheets undergo strict dimensional and surface fluorescent penetrant testing before leaving the factory.

In terms of specifications, the current maximum outer diameter can reach 500mm, and it will be able to reach 600mm by the end of 2021. The thickness is usually 25-25mm. The shape and sealing method of the tubesheet are customized according to the drawing. Silicon carbide tubesheet truly showcases its outstanding properties and importance in diverse industrial applications.
